Functions

Quark creates world-class software following an integrated product development strategy, with clear and defined roles for each team.

Product Management Group (PMG)

Employees in PMG use their foresight and business acumen to design world-class products for a dynamic market. PMG relies on customer interaction and market research to identify customer needs, determine priorities, understand problems, and develop solutions. End-user needs drive the design and architecture of the product, and the subsequent strategy for new or incremental solutions. PMG performs feasibility studies on each product and develops written requirements to provide direction for product development. Finally, PMG reviews deliverables and coordinates with other departments to achieve a successful product release.

Research and Development (R&D)

Quark allocates more than 20% of corporate revenues to R&D, the pulse of Quark. R&D follows the product lifecycle in close association with Quality Engineering and Product Management. When R&D receives a product concept from PMG, it creates designs and patterns. This leads to unit test cases and ultimately to coding using diverse technologies such as XML, .NET, CORBA, Java, C++, C#, COM/DCOM, SQL Server, Oracle, JSP, and ASP.

R&D Services and R&D Consulting together act as an interface between R&D and Quality Engineering. R&D Services creates software builds and installers, and conducts performance testing. R&D Consulting designs, customizes, and fine-tunes the product and the user interface to create the most suitable product for Quark customers.

Quality Engineering (QE)

QE works in close association with PMG and R&D, performing tests to spot the unexpected. Its activities include preparing the product test plan, performing test cases, conducting automated test cases, and conducting random testing. QE performs value-added services, including workflow testing, to analyze process delays and problems. It also carries out the very unique function of testing each module independently, and then testing the integration with other modules.

Worldwide Product Services (WPS)

WPS links those who design and develop Quark products with the end users. WPS is the creative cell for any form of communication, and localizes the software and documentation.

Technical writers develop the extensive documentation that accompanies Quark software. Product documentation usually includes a User Guide, ReadMe, Configuration Guide, Installation Guide, Known Issues, and a Help File. Creating these materials requires an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the product; and knowing the standards and cultural practices of the target market.

The Marketing Communication unit of the department provides content for press releases, technical information sheets, and all other material that communicates the functions and culture of Quark. Additionally, the unit is responsible for material on all Quark products and content on Quark Web sites. They work in conjunction with designers and documentation experts on a wide variety of collateral.

Sales and Marketing

Sales and Marketing handles various activities related to building and maintaining customer relationships, developing brand equity, and formulating a complete marketing strategy. The department takes part in trade shows and looks into every aspect of sales.

Technical Support

Technical Support handles customer and enterprise support through telephone, Web, and e-mail. The department provides support to Quark's European channel partners, and handles activation and validation for Quark customers around the world.

Quark Systems Consulting (QSC)

QSC is a unit of Quark Systems Pvt. Ltd. that provides consulting and professional services to internal and external customers. QSC undertakes custom projects in all parts of the world, including training end users, system integrators, and third-party XTensions developers; conducting technical feasibility studies; and creating workflow designs.
